Overview

Commercial Standardization & Governance (FIG PWD): In my current role as Project Support Officer, a major focus is the standardization of contract management across the capital portfolio. I am leading the project to standardize how we manage NEC elements, specifically the formal use of Early Warning (EW) mechanisms and Compensation Events (CE). This ensures that every project within the PWD follows a rigorous change and scope management process, providing the Directorate with clear commercial transparency and protecting the government’s capital investment from unmanaged liability.

Commercial Assurance & Dispute Resolution (Goodwin Ltd & Bristow): As Construction Project Manager at Goodwin Ltd, I was responsible for the commercial health of a multi-site program. I successfully resolved complex scope and liability disputes between asset owners and contractors by leveraging contractual evidence and formal change management protocols. I strategically employed the Transfer strategy by drafting specific contract clauses to shift specialized risks to subcontractors, ensuring the client’s financial exposure was minimized. During the X-Block Renovation at Bristow, I enforced strict contractual compliance, ensuring that every supplier deliverable—from heating systems to structural repairs—met the predefined commercial and technical specifications before payment or sign-off was authorized.

Procurement & Tender Assessment (FIG & FIC): At FIC, I contributed to the design and business case development stage, where I conducted tender assessments to verify that contractor proposals reflected a true understanding of the commercial and technical requirements. This proactive approach reduced the likelihood of "hidden" costs or claims post-award. Currently, at FIG, I perform similar rigorous assessments, ensuring that our procurement processes align with both the strategic corporate plan and the financial regulations of the government.

Commercial Record Keeping & Accountability: Throughout my career, I have maintained an elite standard of commercial record-keeping. I maintain the central governance records for all contractual assumptions and risks (RAID), ensuring an audit-ready evidence trail for every commercial decision. My approach is grounded in the principles of my Advanced Level 7 Diploma in Contract Management, ensuring that "management by contract" is a proactive tool for project success rather than a reactive measure for dispute.
